Houston Food Bank and its Partners provide essential services and we will continue to do so. Hundreds of thousands of people are counting on the organization and its Partners now, and this need will only heighten if the COVID-19 situation worsens. The people we serve almost by definition do not have food reserves. We will remain operational while utilizing the best available safety precautions.
This is a difficult time for the 22 million children who rely on the free and reduced-price meals they receive at school. Hoonuit has deployed the School Meal Finder to enable students and families who rely on schools for meal benefits to find their nearest pickup program. The food locator is available to anyone in the United States at no cost.
This program delivers meals to elderly Houston residents through a partnership with the Houston Food Bank and local restaurants. The delivery will be a no-contact food delivery to ensure safety.
Due to COVID-19, all SNAP recipients will get the maximum amount for their household size for April and May. The April amount will be added by Wednesday, April 15. You can see the Maximus Monthly SNAP amounts based on family size below.
To fight our community's food insecurity, and as part of our mission to ensure that no one leaves WHAM hungry, we provide a wide assortment of nutritious produce, organic food, and staples from our Food Pantry Monday thru Friday to all who need it from 10 am-2 pm, Saturdays from 10 am-1 pm for working clients (must provide current check stub to receive this Saturday service), and one Saturday each month at the WHAM Food Fair.
The Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) continues to serve our clients via our 70+ partner agencies, independent school districts, and mobile market distributions. We are supporting our partners with changes in distribution models that carry safety protocols to mitigate the risk of the spread of illness. The MCFB is monitoring the situation closely and taking necessary precautions to help make sure that food and product remain safe and that our distributions and volunteer activities can continue.
